The militants reportedly fired three mortar shells that hit residential areas nearthe airport and a military base ofthe African Union Mission inSomalia (AMISOM).
A car bomb exploded on Sunday near the Aden Adde Airport in Somalia's capital of Mogadishu, media reported.
The car bomb was detonated byarmed militants, afterthey were spotted bysecurity guards, the Xinhua news agency reported. Several people are feared dead asa result ofthe incident.
