Al-Shabaab kills two district officials in Mogadishu hours after AU attack
Al-Shabaab militants in Mogadishu have killed two district officials on Sunday evening, hours after a major assault on an AMISOM base in southern Somalia, according to a statement on Al-Shabaab affiliated media outlets. Hassan Indha-Dhuh and Mohamud Moallim Hassan Fagasse were gunned down in Mogadishu. Both of the victims were senior district administrators in Hamarweyne District of the Banadir regional administration. The perpetrators were not apprehended and Somali police, who have confirmed the killing, has said that an investigation is underway.
The murders come hours after an attack on an AMISOM base in Bullamarer town which located 125km south of Somalia was confirmed by official and witnesses.
The militants claimed to have killed 59 Ugandan soldiers and destroyed several armoured vehicles in the attack.
AMISOM has not yet commented on the attack on its soldiers.
