MOGADISHU, Somalia-A delegate led by Somali President Mohamed Abdullahi Farmajo traveled to UK on Tuesday to participate in the forthcoming conference on Somalia hosted by UK government, Garowe Online reports.

Accompanied by leaders of Southwest, Galmudug and Hirshabelle regional states, President Farmajo left for London to co-chair the two-day London conference on Somalia along with UK’s Prime Minster Theresa May.

The summit will be attended by representatives from international organizations, international community, donors and United Nations to hold talks on how to assist the new government in the areas of security, development and drought relief programs.

During the conference, Farmajo is expected to request from Somalia’s international partners to support his government in their effort to bring the needed political stability and development in the horn of African nation.

The conference is scheduled to kick start on Thursday May 11, in London, the capital of United Kingdom.

In 2012, UK hosted London conference on Somalia aimed to transform the country from a failed state to a stable nation with functioning government institutions. Partners pledged millions of dollars for reconstruction and rebuilding the security forces, however, pundits have criticized the international partners for not honoring promises made to support the country.
