Ethiopian initiative thaws Djibouti, Eritrea relations
Waagacusub.com An Ethiopian led initiative is reported to have a breakthrough in improving the relationships between the two beach side nations of the Horn of Africa- Eritrea and Djibouti.
According to the Spokesperson of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Ethiopia, one of the missions of an Ethiopian delegation, led by Prime Minister Abiy Ahmed (PhD), which visited Eritrea on Wednesday September 5, 2018 was to persuade the Eritrean president to normalize relation with Djibouti. Up on receiving positive response from President Isaias Afewerki of Eritrea, a delegation led by Workneh Gebeyehu (PhD), Minister of Foreign Affairs of Ethiopia, and constituting of Eritrean Foreign Affairs Minister, Ousman Saleh, headed to Djibouti today to continue the talks between the two nations.
Workneh posted on his Facebook Page that the two nations have agreed to an Ethiopian led initiative to normalize the soured relationship and congratulated the citizens of the two countries on the achievement so far.
