sea gangs release Greek - owned freighter after air-drop

Nairobi (waagacusub) Using sophisticated speedboats
with automatic weapons, armed Somali pirates who seized
a Panama-registered cargo ship, Navios Apollon before
two months have in the end released the hijacked vessel
in their hands on Saturday evening after an unnamed
sum of ransom had been air-dropped onto the deck of
the vessel according to the local sources.
The seizure of the bulk carrier occurred about 800
miles off the Somali coast north of the Seychelles on
its way to India with a cargo of fertilizer sailing
from the United States . The Greek owned vessel was
snatched on 28th December last year
It was confirmed that the last pirate had disembarked
from the ship before the sunrise broke and it is now
heading to safe waters with the escort of two warships.
it is believed that it is on its way to Oman .
An unspecified amount of money was air-dropped on to
the ship as a ransom, a member of Somali sea gangs said.
All crew members 19 in number, one Greek, the vessel’s
captain and 18 Filipinos are safe, as the reliable sources
suggest. The Greek firm, Navios Ship Management has
secured the release of its vessel but left the amount
paid unsaid to mention
