SOMALI POLITICIAN CONDEMNS THE INTERNATIONAL COMMUNITY'S
NEGLIGENCE AGAINST SOMALI PEOPLE
I, Ibaar Sheikh Ali Ibaar, a Somali politician, condemn here,
the international community's negligence and deliberate denial
against the Somali destitute who were forced to flee their
houses by groups carrying proxy war.
The international community neglected the million people who
were forced to leave their houses by force and suffer outside
the city by Ethiopian forces and the agony is that all the aid
funds intended to help Somali people are going to unknown
places.
The projects
The EU and other donor agencies mostly claim they donate
money to the Somali people through international NGOs, but more
than 80% of that money is left in Kenya spending in hotels,
flights, salaries and other expenses.
Some flights from Nairobi to some parts of Somalia carry only
some letters of a cartoon of medicine, which could be
transferred through Fax, Email, couriers or other means, the
plane must be chartered with thousands of money, while thousands
of people and animals are dying because of lack of water and
daily food.
We can't so long endure the humiliation of our people through
INVISIBLE AID, I am sure there will be responsibility one time
that all the actors will be asked to answer their actions of
this time.
Example.
Last week, some EU staff presented a project in Kalsan Towers
in Nairobi last week, it was a project intended to help Somalia,
the project was about millions of Euros, but the conditions
sidelined all Somali NGOs, some of the rules were very rude
saying "The Local NGO must be registered in another country
outside Somalia" which means, if the local Somali NGO is
registered in Somalia it doesn't qualify the project, that is
petty.
Recommendations
The international community must act against the following
atrocity, the Somali people are human being and have the rights
to get protection from all regional, international and UN
conventions protecting the peoples.
The aid agencies to stop overseeing the reality and involve
the local communities to the activity.
The aid agencies must stop keeping the local NGOs to be
dependent to them.
