Car bomb targets Turkish engineers in Afgooye
Waagacusub.com- An explosives-laden car blew up near a food café in Afgooye with initial reports indicating it was targeting Turkish contractors who are involved in road construction in the area.
Sources told WAAGACUSUB.COM the car rammed into a café where the Turkish engineers and Somali police were having lunch. There was no immediate information on the casualties.
The attack comes barely three weeks after a truck loaded with explosives exploded at a check-point in Ex-Control area killing 89 people and injuring over 150 others.
The militant group Al-Shabaab which claimed responsibility in the December 28 attack said it was targeting the Turkish engineers. Two Turkish nationals who were involved in the road construction were killed in the attack.
