Sharif Hassan Sheikh Aden, southwest state president of Somalia, was detained at airport over unknown reason after departing from Saudi Arabia, sources said.

Caasimada Online learned that President Aden’s travel documents were taken by Kenya Civil Aviation Authority (KCAA) for investigation.

It remains unclear why he was detained at Jomo Kenyatta airport in the capital of Nairobi.

The leader Aden and his delegates were reportedly released on bail from Somali embassy in Nairobi, according to sources, who asked to be anonymous.

Last month, an airliner from Somali capital Mogadishu was stopped from landing at Jomo Kenyatta International Airport.

The plane, whose passengers included the Somali minister for Security, Mohamed Abukar Islow, had to make a u-turn and fly back to Mogadishu, where it landed at the Aden Adde International Airport.

Kenya insists that the procedure – introduced in 2006 – is for the mutual benefit of the two neighbors who have in the past suffered several terror attacks due to the presence of Al Shabaab terrorist group in Somalia.
