Somalia: Somali Journalists Call for the Release of the Imprisoned Cameroonian Journalist Ahmed Abba
WAAGACUSUB:- Somali Journalists joined the global media community in demanding the release of the Cameroonian journalist who was sentenced to 10 years in Prison by a military court in April this year.
The Somali Journalists expressed their solidarity with imprisoned Journalist Ahmed Abba and printed the photos of the jailed journalist, calling his immediate and unconditional release.
"Journalism is not a crime and Ahmed Abba should be released, " the Journalists said.
A military court in Cameroon sentenced Ahmed Abba, a correspondent for Radio France Internationale's (RFI) Hausa service, to 10 years in prison and ordered him to make a payment of 55 million Central African francs (US$91,133) Abba's lawyer Clément Nakong, told CPJ. Abba, was convicted of "non-denunciation of terrorism" and "laundering of the proceeds of terrorist acts,”
