Waagacusub.com Somalia National Army in support with the Ethiopian troops who are part of the AMISOM mission have early Tuesday launched a foot patrol operation around the town in a bid to strengthen the security in Baidoa town of Bay region.

According to a recent report, the troops are said to be accessing to homes in Baidoa town and arrested several people who were allegedly linked to Al-Shabaab militants.

The foot patrolling was a new way operation carried to the residents of Baidoa town following the October 13 explosion that has left the resident in fear that Al-Shabab members are still inside the city.

At least 7 people were killed in suicide bombings that targeted two locations in the southwestern city of Baidoa on last Saturday.

On the other hand, Baidoa administration has announced two days ban the movement of the rickshaws and the NOAH vehicles within the town.

Baidoa security will be beefed up as the election to choose a new state president are slated for November.

The town had also been a stronghold of the Al Qaeda liked insurgents until 2012 when the city was recaptured by government troops and Ethiopian forces. AMISOM troops deployed to Baidoa in May 2012 to support the Somalia National Army (SNA).
